• Analyze current processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement through automation. Work closely with operations teams to understand their needs and develop strategies to streamline operations, reduce downtime, and enhance efficiency.
• Develop and program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) to control and monitor critical processes. Ensure the seamless integration of automation systems with existing infrastructure.
• Design and implement Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and SCADA systems to provide real-time data visualization, remote monitoring, and control capabilities. Create intuitive interfaces for operators to interact with automation systems effectively.
• Ensure that all automation systems and processes comply with industry safety standards, regulations, and guidelines. Implement safety features and protocols to mitigate potential risks associated with automation technologies.
• Provide technical support for automation systems, diagnosing and resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime. Develop preventive maintenance plans to ensure the reliability and longevity of automation systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, technicians, project managers, and operations personnel to define project scopes, goals, and deliverables. Communicate effectively to ensure alignment between automation initiatives and broader business objectives.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of automation systems, including system architecture, designs, specifications, and operational procedures.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in automation engineering within the oil and gas sector.
