The Civil Project Manager is responsible and accountable for the overall success of the assigned civil engineering projects. This includes the financial performance of the project budget, the project scheduling and meeting deadlines, managing client needs and expectations, coordination with permitting agencies and other important stakeholders, the production of all elements of the civil design and project deliverables, the overall QA/QC process of the civil design plans, specifications, and supporting documentation for the project and responsible for compiling and managing the appropriate resources to deliver the project to the client. The Civil Project Manager will be expected to foster the mentorship of other Civil Project Coordinators and Civil Designers and demonstrate a strong sense of leadership amongst peers both internally and externally to public. This position will continue to seek mentorship from Civil Team Leaders to strengthen project, employee and client management skill sets.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university required
Experience: 5 - 10 years’ experience, previous Civil Engineering with a Civil Engineering design firm or construction related experience highly desirable
Engineer -in-Training (EIT) certification
SC PE license preferred
Essential Job Functions:
Project Management
- Preparation of proposals of specific projects (Scope of Work, Permitting Process, Project Budget, and Project Schedule)
- Full responsibility and engagement in the managing of client expectations on project requirements, deliverables, agency regulations, scheduling and project deadlines
- Prepare project tracking worksheets and monitor current workloads and performance status of all assigned projects across the civil project team
- Ability to manage all aspects (clients, employees, and resources multiple assigned projects)
- Prepare and review invoices for client billing
- Prepare complete Due Diligence research on assigned projects with the ability to identify potential risk factors to a project
- Engage frequently in business development opportunities to enhance the company's presence in the community and amongst potential clients
- Time management and organization skills
- Assist clients in the review of site work bids from contractors related to civil design projects
- Demonstrate ability and proficiency in the project management of multiple types of projects (residential, commercial, industrial, etc.) to include at least five (5) Civil Design Projects from kick-off to closeout
- Ability to effectively present projects in public forums (such as, DRB, TRC, Neighborhood and Stakeholder meetings)
Design
- Full responsibility for and engagement in the QA/QC reviews on all assigned civil design work and plan presentation. Expected to administer full review of project construction documents prior to submittals to clients, agencies, and contractors (issue for construction sets)
- Manage the assignment of project tasks appropriately and provide clear direction and delegation to the civil design team
- Provide sound and experienced judgement on engineering design decisions and solutions
Field
- Coordinate directly with clients, contractors, and government agencies to provide solutions to field issues, review change orders and pay apps, evaluate as-builts, and coordinate project closeout
- Evaluate and a provide suggested solutions to problem solving and troubleshooting issues arising in the field
