Job Scope: 
As Commercial Manager for you are responsible for all sales activities, starting with developing a competitive sales strategy suitable for the organization, and ensuring a high occupancy rate of the yard to reach the sales targets, production value, and contribution margin of the organization.

Responsibilities: 
Policy Development:
  • Collaborating with the Managing Director and members of the Management Team to contribute to the development of strategies aimed at efficiently and effectively executing ship repair and conversion operations.
  • Advising the Management Team on improving market position and developing new markets
  • Determining the competitiveness of the company based on analyses, market research, customer satisfaction surveys, price comparisons, and internal advice.
  • Implementing policies established by the Management Team.
Sales:
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a solid sales strategy and plan for his area based on the full scope of the shipyards' operations.
  • Promptly and accurately identifying market developments and opportunities, and anticipating them with concrete action plans;
  • Managing, coordinating, and evaluating the sales and quotation activities of the company, and responsible for achieving the sales targets.
  • Monitoring the dock and quay occupancy levels to ensure that the docks and quays are utilized efficiently, including negotiating with clients to adjust schedules or prioritize certain projects to optimize dock and quay usage and revenue generation.
Customer Relations:
  • Identifying potential customers and building strong relationships with existing customers, partners, and industry experts to identify business opportunities.
  • Managing contracts with customers and suppliers, ensuring that terms and conditions are met, and resolving any disputes that may arise.
  • Providing solutions to the customer, possibly in collaboration with Sales Managers
  • Collaborating with the Operations Manager to address project challenges and ensure timely completion to meet customer expectation.
Leadership: 
  • Managing the team of Estimators and Area Sales Manager.
  • Functionally leading the team of engineering and planning in preparing potential projects.
  • Providing adequate training and development opportunities for employees to enhance their skills and meet operational requirements.
  • Conducting performance reviews, appraisals, and sick leave conversations with direct subordinates.

Qualifications:
  • An academic background in Maritime studies, Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field, or hold a relevant certification demonstrating knowledge of the ship repair industry.
  • Relevant courses or certifications in areas such as sales, negotiating, contract management and project management.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience as Commercial Manager or similar within the ship repair, conversion or maritime industry
  • In-depth knowledge of the maritime industry, particularly ship repair and conversion practices, including a comprehensive understanding of supply and demand dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
