The Construction Superintendent is accountable for the construction planning and execution of a segment of the project.  In the early project phases the CS ensures that constructability is considered in design.  The CS provides safety leadership to the construction and pre-commissioning activities. During the Define Phase works include but are not limited to the following:


Brownfield/Greenfield review of SOW, permit to work reviews and providing support/coverage for Early Enabling Works.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing all aspects of Construction (incl. fabrication) activities (Contract Administration, Scheduling, Cost, Quality Assurance, Labour, Forecasting) during the Optimize, Define, Execute and Operate stages of a project. 
  • Managing construction scopes and contractors' readiness process for key construction mobilizations and activities and associated risk management
  • PSCM and project controls support, such as: 1. supporting RFP process, 2. review of contractor performance (using KPIs) and value of work done, 3. review of changes / variations & 4. identification and resolution of schedule slippage
  • Managing key contractor and site interfaces to ensure smooth project execution
  • Ensuring conformance to bp’s requirements and drives compliance with all technical integrity, quality and HSSE expectations, generally acting as site (area) safety leader.
  • Identifying construction execution risks at appropriate project stages and ensures that risks are managed throughout the project life cycle.
  • Developing, maintaining and building relationships with all applicable stakeholders, and fostering and maintaining stakeholder ownership and alignment
  • Supporting construction reviews (and contributes to other functional reviews, peer assists and assurance processes) as required by bp’s project common process and implements the construction self-verification program.
  • Embedding and sharing of construction learnings, networking with the community of practice and engaging with specialists when required.
  • Responsible for construction integrity and contractor interface management
  • Monitors construction practices to ensure compliance with bp policies, procedures, and specifications
  • Ensures that construction is executed in a safe manner and control of work is in place
  • Communicates HSSE procedures and expectations to the contractor
  • Manages oversight process for construction, quality and safety
  • Ensures that contractor incidents are reported, and follows up on contractor injuries and incidents in a timely manner
  • Deputizing for CM when required
  • Day to day management of field engineers / contractors on site as the main point of contact at site.
