Job Title: Corporate Health and Safety Administrator (HAS)

We currently seek a Corporate Health and Safety Administrator within our client’s environmental engineering and science consulting firm. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of relevant experience. This newly established, leadership-focused role is pivotal to enhancing safety culture and supporting growth. From developing comprehensive safety programs to leading training sessions, your expertise will drive meaningful results as it supports each of GSI’s 11 offices and 200+ employees. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Irvine, CA.

Job Requirements:
  • Report to and collaborate with President on all aspects of the Health and Safety Program.
  • Work with Executive Management Committee (EMC) to maintain, distribute, and periodically update the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Program Manual, ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and Local occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with EMC and others (e.g., Office Managers) to develop, maintain, and implement all EHS-related provisions in key corporate documents including, but not limited to, the Employee Policy Manual, Procedures Handbook, Quality Management Plan (QMP), and Business Continuity Plan.
  • Assist Principals and Project Team Leaders (PTLs) in evaluating unique safety challenges and requirements for specific projects, then assist in preparing, reviewing, and approving Site-Specific Health and Safety Plans (SS-HASPs) and Job Safety Analyses.
  • Partner with Principals and PTLs in reviewing, negotiating, and implementing all EHS-related requirements in client-originated Master Service Agreements, Contracts, and Purchase Orders, and review any EHS documentation submitted by subcontractors pursuant to company originated subcontracts.
  • Manage health and safety records and documentation in client-directed vendor management systems, such as ISNetworld and Avetta, and drug-screening programs required by specific clients through DISA.
  • Assist PTLs and field staff with conducting and documenting client-required health and safety compliance audits.
  • Provide onboarding orientation of the EHS Program Manual for new staff.
  • Develop and lead quarterly safety meetings with field staff across all offices.
  • Partner with the Managing Principal in each office to identify candidates for the office Health and Safety Coordinator role, then train and assist the selected Coordinator with carrying out their role within each office.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of all required and discretionary safety training and refresher programs, including, but not limited to: OSHA, MSHA, HAZCOM, site-specific, fire extinguisher, and first-aid training. Maintain a tracking system to ensure all employees are current on required safety training.
  • Investigate on-the-job accidents, injuries, illnesses, or other incidents to determine appropriate response measures and reporting requirements; disseminate incident summaries and/or lessons learned to staff, as needed.
  • Manage third-party injury case management service provider (Axiom Medical) and serve as a primary point-of-contact for all incidents; facilitate response actions and communications between staff, management, Principals, and clients during and following any incident reported to Axiom.
  • Support projects with specialized health and safety or industrial hygiene needs, when required by project specifications.
  • Occasional travel to job sites and primary offices across the U.S. will be required.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial or occupational hygiene, health science, or a related science field is required; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional work experience is required, experience in the environmental consulting industry including air, surface water, sediment, soil and groundwater investigation methodologies preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, Cal-OSHA, and MSHA requirements.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER with current Refresher certification required.
  • 8-hour OSHA Supervisor with current Refresher certification preferred.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
