The ideal candidate will have:
• A degree or equivalent experience in the Health, Safety, Environment field
• At least 10 years’ experience in similar roles in the Construction Industry
• Experience in Rail or Light Rail Projects in senior EHS roles
• A professional designation such as a CRSP, NCSO
• Experience in delivering EHS training and formal presentations to leadership roles
• Experience with carrying out major incident investigations.
• Experience in implementing enterprise wide EHS programs and initiatives
• Ability to research and prepare high level reports on EHS and improvement strategies at the sector level
Responsibilities:
• Drives and lead the implementation of EHS strategy, vision, programs and initiatives across operational sector / project(s)
• Lead and align a team of EHS direct reports
• Build strong relationships with EHS counterparts on JVs to ensure ongoing collaboration, communication and support
• Ensures compliance to the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other pertinent legislation
• Inspects and Audits project facilities and recommends corrective and or preventative measures
• Collaborates with EHS Claims team on workers’ compensation and claims management processes
• Supervise/conduct accident investigations, analyze trends and ensure corrective actions are addressed
• Assist in Labour Relations matters as required
• Prepares quarterly status reports for VP Safety
