ENVIRONMENTAL LEAD (INSTREAM WATER MANAGEMENT) - This is a 24-month contract position with the possibility of extension. This role involves leading projects from prefeasibility through execution and monitoring, collaborating closely with project teams and internal stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
Under the guidance of the Senior Project Lead, the Environmental Project Lead will drive the development of stream restoration projects to meet company’s permit requirements and environmental commitments.
Employment Status: Independent Contractor
Work Location: Sparwood, BC or Calgary (Calgary based would need occasional travel, still to be determined, but not too frequent)
Working Hours: Mon-Thu 7:00am-4:00pm, Fri 7:00am-3:00pm, with one Friday off every 2 weeks.
Hybrid Mode (Calgary): 3 days in the office (hot desk) and 2 days work from home
Details:
Ensure health and safety compliance, foster collaboration with stakeholders, and manage stream restoration projects from planning to monitoring.
Schedule resources, develop project scopes and budgets, and coordinate consultants across various disciplines.
Proactively manage risks and changes, and collaborate with mine operations for safe on-site management and permit compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Earth Science, Geology, Physical Geography, Agrology, Forestry, Engineering, or a related environmental field OR Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
- Holding a professional designation and/or meeting BC provincial requirements.
- 5+ years in environmental project management.
- Technical skills: Stream Remediation and Fish Habitat Restoration, Practical Regulatory Background, Project work experience in engineering, ecological design, and construction.
- Possess a robust understanding of project management processes, complemented by exceptional collaborative, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- You will be required to establish and maintain strong relationships and foster a collaborative culture with a diverse range of stakeholders and subject matter experts across the organization, to effectively build and lead project teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
