An ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, who can build and maintain positive relationships with partners across all levels of our organization. Someone who has strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and demonstrated strong leadership and organizational skills would be an excellent fit.
Job Duties
- Take charge of enforcing safety and environmental protocols
- Provide guidance and leadership to the project team
- Assist in implementing health and safety initiatives for the project
- Organize and oversee training sessions for the team
- Record all workplace incidents, conduct investigations, and implement necessary corrective measures
- Develop and manage annual budgets for health, safety, and environment (HSE)
- Conduct safety risk assessments for contractors
- Create risk assessments, inductions, and emergency response plans
- Manage the collection of environmental data and monitoring programs
- Ensure compliance with legal obligations and oversee associated activities
Requirements:
- Preferably hold a Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; prior experience in mining or construction safety is advantageous
- At least seven years of experience in health, safety, and environment within the mining or heavy construction sectors
- Familiarity with local, national, and international safety and environmental regulations
Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
