Human Resource Business Partner
We currently seek a high-caliber Human Resource Business Partner for a direct hire basis within our client’s team of experienced professionals Based in Houston, TX.

 
Summary of position: 
 
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources professional who is focused on building their career through experiences and exposure to strategic business activities and wants to be part of a dynamic high functioning HR team. You will partner with a business that has a need for a proactive HR Business Partner with strong organizational, communication and execution skills. In this critical role you will manage a variety of high-touch human resource activities for several locations of an East Coast business unit. This is a hands-on role that requires both tactical and strategic execution of business unit level projects and activities, while maintaining focus and alignment with company-wide initiatives and programs. You will also be a member of our HR Operations team, which is focused on optimizing and implementing company-wide Talent programs that directly impact our employee and manager experiences. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of having successful organizational impact in a mid-sized company and matrix environment. Additionally, you thrive in a collaborative office (in-person) environment and proactively seek out building 1-on-1 relationships with your managers and employees of all levels. 
 
***This is NOT a fully remote role and will prioritize working hours on location.  Locations may vary with in the DC Metro and regional office/project locations.*** 
 
Requirements / Must haves: 
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration/Management.  If degree is in other field of study a PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification is required.  
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources working in a mid-size company; with 3-4 years HRBP experience  
  • Must have demonstrated experience managing a mix of professional and skilled labor employees. Union/CBA experience desired.  
  • Previous experience managing remote locations.  
  • Construction, Engineering or similar industry experience preferred 
 
Job Duties: 
  • Develop very effective partnerships with division management and strong relationships with employees at all levels. 
  • Provide advice and counsel to managers on a regular basis for complex employee relations issues including investigations, performance improvement plans, and performance counseling.  
  • Advise and guide the business on the execution of workforce plans. Partner with Talent Acquisition and interface with management to ensure all positions are filled effectively and timely, in accordance to workforce plans. 
  • Support annual performance appraisal process and partner with Compensation function to facilitate compensation processes by counseling and advising managers.  
  • Facilitate and present employee engagement survey results to division management and employees. Participate in the development of action plans in response to employee engagement survey, and project manage implementation of plans. 
  • Partner with the business to guide the college recruiting and internship program. Serve as a member of the steering committee to drive recruiting and intern conversion goals. Partner with Early Career Lead to make program enhancements.  
  • Collaborate with HR Functional Experts/teams (TA, Talent Management, Total Rewards, and L&D) to execute, and communicate programs that meet the needs of employees and the business.  
  • Support creation and independently project manage division level HR projects to support business needs, with a focus on process improvements.  
 
Pathway to Success: 
  • Proven ability to build and maintain very effective relationships and work successfully as an influencer across organization lines and at all levels, while supporting remote managers/employees. Ability to navigate a matrix organization and experience partnering with HR functional experts. 
  • The ability to shift quickly between tactical and strategic work/initiatives. 
  • Significant knowledge of, employment law, workforce planning/recruitment, performance management, compensation, employee relations case management, and investigation methodology. General knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, training, benefits, and leave management. 
  • Ability to problem solve and provide advice and counsel on complex professional and organizational employee issues. Ability to develop creative solutions and provide options to management. Very strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to meet deadlines and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment; ability to work independently; excellent customer service skills with timely responses to high volume requests. 
  • Demonstrate a work style that excels in a collaborative office environment, fostering effective communication, team synergy, and a positive workplace culture. 
  • Ability to travel locally between DC metro offices and project locations, remote construction projects in various states within the region, as well as to West Coast for HR team meetings and professional development. Approximately 15-20% travel.
