Job Title: Innovation Director
Location: Greenville, SC ***HYBRID***
Industry: light industrial manufacturing
Status of Hire: direct placement; permanent

Summary: The Global New Product Development (NPD) and Innovation Director will lead and oversee all new product development initiatives for our valves and actuators manufacturing operations. This key leadership role will be responsible for managing a group of experts based in the USA and Germany, driving innovation, and implementing a disciplined phase-gate process to ensure product success from concept to commercialization. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with 15+ years of experience in the packaging industry, particularly in injection molding, and will demonstrate a combination of creative problem-solving, project management expertise, and remote leadership skills.

Job Duties:
  • Lead global NPD and innovation initiatives with a focus on dispensing solutions.
  • Drive innovation by developing new technologies, materials, and designs that align with market demands and company objectives.
  • Apply deep technical knowledge in injection molding processes and design to develop sustainable cutting-edge dispensing solutions, ensuring scalability, cost efficiency.
  • Implement a disciplined phase-gate approach for new product development, ensuring each stage of the process is thoroughly vetted and aligned with company goals.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to meet critical milestones within the NPD process, from concept ideation through to commercialization.
  • Utilize strong project management skills to lead multiple concurrent projects, managing timelines, resources, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful launch of new products.
  • Creatively work with limited resources and IT tools to deliver innovative solutions within budgetary and operational constraints.
  • Develop new approaches to overcome challenges in product development and packaging, adapting to changing market trends and technological advances.
  • Lead and mentor geographically dispersed teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Ensure seamless communication and alignment between the USA and Germany teams, facilitating effective remote leadership.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • 15+ years of experience in the packaging industry, with significant focus on aerosol packaging and injection molding.
  • Proven expertise in injection molding processes and design, packaging technology development.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage complex projects across multiple locations.
  • Strong intercultural communication skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization preferred.
  • Familiarity with sustainability trends and regulations in the packaging industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of aerosol-specific packaging solutions and materials preferred.
