We seek a part-time, highly creative, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Museum Exhibitor. As a Museum Exhibitor, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing captivating exhibits that engage and educate visitors. You will work closely with the curator to bring the museum's collections and stories to life through visually appealing and interactive displays. This role requires a strong understanding of African-American history or science and excellent organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the curator and researchers to conceptualize and develop exhibit themes and narratives.
- Design visually compelling and interactive exhibits that align with the museum's mission and target audience.
- Select appropriate artifacts, artworks, or specimens for display, ensuring their preservation and safety.
- Create detailed exhibit plans, including layout, lighting, signage.
- Incorporate innovative technologies and interactive elements to enhance the visitor experience.
- Oversee the installation and dismantling of exhibits, ensuring proper handling and care of artifacts.
- Conduct regular quality checks to maintain the integrity and functionality of exhibits.
- Develop interpretive materials, such as labels, brochures, and audio guides, to provide informative and engaging content.
- Assist in cataloging and documenting artifacts, artworks, or specimens in the museum's collection.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and conservation of objects, following established museum standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in museum studies, art history, history, anthropology, or a related field, desired but not required.
- Proven experience in exhibit design, development, and project management within a museum or cultural institution.
- Strong knowledge and passion for art, history, or science
