Our client is one of Canada's largest rail construction firms, that offers comprehensive and robust benefits program, and competitive salary! The ideal candidate will have 15-20 years of comparable experience directly overseeing workers in high-risk activities.
Job duties:
• Review of all planned track and construction activities within the designated Commissioning territory
• Overview of track construction activities including remedy of deficiencies, approval and certification from necessary authorities and necessary maintenance of track
• Be able to prioritize access to various work groups to permit balance of necessary testing and construction activities
• Full and thorough understanding of risks associated with various construction and commissioning tasks and operations
• Implement appropriate mitigations and tools to manage risk and keep all parties safe
• Testing and troubleshooting various issues as they develop
• Oversight of installs by external sub-contractors
Job Requirements:
• Minimum 15-20 years in a comparable position preferably directly overseeing workers in high-risk activities
• Strong ‘safety first’ philosophy and experience in understanding unsafe conditions and how to control risk
• Ability to work with other groups in developing necessary safe operational procedures while maintaining balance with competing schedules, priorities and needs.
• Ability to generate necessary tracking forms
• Thorough understanding of various railway operation principles and practices
• Ability to work some off shifts depending on urgency and availability
• Able to work in some physically demanding conditions including outdoors work at all seasons
