Purchasing Agent

Our client, a leader in the manufacturing sector, is looking for a Purchasing Agent to join their team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing ferrous and non-ferrous scrap. You will coordinate selling and trading activities with the Operation Managers, production supervisors, and mill buyers.

Key Job Duties:
• Source and purchase all grades of ferrous and nonferrous scrap
• Analyze material and freight costs to support targeted financial performance
• Maintain quality standards, process claims and manage commercial disputes with suppliers
• Manage deliveries and shipments with stakeholders
• Coordinate travel and site visits to meet virtually and in person

Key Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration is required
• 1-5 years experience in an industrial environment or metal manufacturing is required
• Purchasing experience is preferred
• Experience with Scrap Management software is considered an asset
