Our client is looking for a Sr Process Engineer (secondment to staff) to support their growth within the Energy Transition (based on their own technology).
Senior Process Engineer (Licensing/R&D)
The company has the ambition to become a global processing company converting non-recyclable waste into valuable chemical building blocks and advanced biofuels. They offer a range of products from licensing, syngas islands to developing its own projects from initial concept based on own proprietary technology into full operation.
As a Senior Process Engineer you will join an international team of passionate professionals. You will be a part of the Technology department, responsible for coordinating and executing strategic innovation projects, including R&D and IP activities. Your role involves supporting ongoing projects and ensuring the company maintains a technological lead in the market by continuously innovating existing technologies and developing new ones for sustainable Bio-Syngas production and downstream biofuels and Bio-Chemicals.
The job:
As the Sr Process Engineer you will work closely with the Engineering/Technology teams. In your new role, you will …
- Independently plan, manage, and document research and development projects, commencing with the conceptual process design and extending through project drafting and execution, in collaboration with internal departments and partners (including external partners).
- Drive continuous optimization and improvement of existing designs and processes.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, whitepapers, and patent applications to document research findings and protect intellectual property in the biomass-to-biofuel (Energy) sector, with a foundation in gasification processes.
- Provide support, co-development, and maintenance for the strategic R&D program.
- Propose new strategic R&D projects, focusing on biomass/waste to Bio-Syngas, Bio-Fuel, and Bio-Chemical production technologies.
- Utilize modeling and simulation tools, including Aspen Engineering Suite and in-house tools, to aid in equipment sizing and process evaluation.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, including research institutes, technical universities, grant and subsidy organizations, vendors, and customers.
- Design and execute laboratory and pilot-scale test campaigns to enhance existing and develop new production technologies. Interpret and implement experimental results into process design for scaling up and commercialization.
- Apply for national and European funding opportunities for innovation projects.
- Provide support to the company's business development and project execution departments by assisting in due diligence processes, proposal preparations, and in delivering technology/process-related materials.
- Support the commissioning and startup teams during project execution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between R&D efforts and the company's overall strategic goals.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and researchers within the team.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings, presentations, and conferences to represent the company's expertise in biomass-to-bioenergy technology.
Requested:
You perform well both as a team player and an independent contributor. You possess strong communication skills and can effectively lead, delegate, and complete tasks independently. You also thrive in a dynamic environment, handling multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining proactive and ethical approaches to project completion. Of course you are solution-oriented, adaptable to shifting priorities, and thrive in diverse, multicultural teams.
- A Master's degree the field of Process Technology, Chemical Engineering, or similar Natural Sciences, with a strong background in Biomass/Bioenergy, Gasification, and Thermo-kinetics.
- 8-15 years of demonstrated success in Gasification fields and Syngas processing within the Petrochemical or specialty Chemical industries
- Professional understanding of process technologies, particularly in thermo-chemical processes, and a general knowledge of biomass-to-bioenergy/fuel processing routes.
- Demonstrated experience in handling licensed process units and integrating different process and utility units, including involvement in License office activities and Basic Engineering phases.
- Good understanding of process systems and process package functions.
