We’re seeking an Intermediate/Senior Tailings Engineer to join our client’s Calgary team. Our client is a major player in the environmental consulting industry with a strong presence all throughout Canada.  
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Provide technical leadership and support for projects and staff, including reviewing calculations and analyses, and conducting technical analyses as needed.
  • Oversee various tailings and water embankment dam projects, including:
    • Field investigation coordination
    • Laboratory test coordination and interpretation
    • Participate in fieldwork as needed to meet project goals and client expectations.
  • Assist with project coordination, cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, client and progress reports, project scheduling, and ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Scope projects and help prepare proposals.
  • Contribute to the management of a leading geotechnical tailings testing facility.
  • Participate in fieldwork as needed to meet project goals and client expectations.

Qualifications: 
  • Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of relevant post-degree experience in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering, preferably in a consulting or mining environment. Canadian experience is highly preferred.
  • Professional Engineer registration with APEGA and/or EGBC, or eligibility for registration.
  • Strong analytical skills in soil mechanics and tailings behavior, including slope stability, seepage, settlement, and deformation.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Class 5 Driver’s license.
  • Comfortable driving mid to full-sized pickup trucks in various environments.
