The role will see you acting as a subject matter expert on spatial planning matters, helping to shape the Transmission Business’s wider consenting strategy. Developing policy and guidance to ensure effective and efficient approaches are adopted in a consistent manner.
Experience
- Provision of specialist support and advice to project teams delivering complex planning and s37 consents.
- Representing our business interests by contributing to Scottish and UK planning policy development, Spatial Plans and Local Development Plans. You will help to build consensus and support around the electricity transmission system’s critical role in facilitating NetZero.
- Developing, controlling, and building mutually beneficial external stakeholder relationships with consenting bodies, statutory authorities, key consultees, and government departments.
- Representing the company at Council Committees, Public Hearings, and work with the Kings Counsel to prepare Statements of Case for Planning Appeals.
- Degree Level and be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
- Have a detailed knowledge of the Scottish planning process, consenting regimes and environmental impact assessment (EIA) legislation.
- Be solution focused and an enthusiastic/positive communicator. You should have excellent communication skills, being able to articulate complex spatial planning issues to a wide variety of stakeholders.
- A willingness to contribute, adapt, and learn within a busy, fast-moving team, dealing with challenges and opportunities across an extensive workload.
- Look to add value and improve the consenting approach through innovation and new ideas to deliver the green agenda.
