Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Roadway Design Engineer well-versed in Bentley OpenRoads and Autodesk Civil 3D tools, capable of handling projects as a Task Manager. The ability to plan and design deliverables against Middle East and US DOT standards for each project stage is essential, along with coordinating with other disciplines for a well-coordinated design. The Engineer will join our Transportation team in Bangalore to produce concept and detailed roadway construction drawings and other infrastructure-related designs for various projects. The Engineer will receive guidance and instructions from the Senior Project Engineer/Manager and typically perform the work independently or as part of a team. Interaction with onshore PM/Engineers to address project requirements on schedule and budget is expected.
Key Competencies/Skills:
- Task Management:
- Manage Roadway Design Projects.
- Use design software such as OpenRoads Designer, Autodesk Civil 3D, and ProjectWise independently.
- Prepare design drawings using AutoCAD/MicroStation in accordance with international standards.
- Familiarity with Infraworks/Concept Station or other 3D visualization software.
- Knowledge of Navisworks/GuideSign is an added advantage.
- Strong command of BIM360/digital/data analytics software as applicable.
- Produce plans, profiles, corridor modeling, detailed cross-sections, site grading, and earthwork quantities using design software.
- Knowledge of ADA ramp design and Complete Street designs.
- Prepare Signage, Markings, and Traffic Control Plans.
- Basic knowledge of Pavement Design and Cost Estimation.
- Basic knowledge of Road Safety Provisions and Design.
- Programming skills are desirable.
- Review and proof-check road design-related drawings.
- Prepare technical reports, progress reports, and presentations.
- Adopt QA/QC procedures to ensure complete coordinated designs internally and across other disciplines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering/Roadway Technology/Highway Engineering.
- 8-12 years of professional experience in the design and documentation of roadway projects.
- Experience in international projects for both US and Middle East is a must.
- Knowledge of International Roadway Design Guides (AASHTO, DMRB, QHDM, MUTCD, and other similar standards).
- Good organizational skills.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Use of problem-solving techniques and systems analysis.
- Understanding of engineering standards, codes of practice, and local authorities’ guidelines.
