Vice President - Engineering & Quality Control

Role Overview: Oversee Engineering and Quality Control operations, establish strategic goals, and ensure process efficiency and effectiveness. Build and develop the engineering team to achieve company goals.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage and structure engineering functions and capabilities.
  • Develop and implement processes, procedures, and ERP/CAD/CAM systems.
  • Optimize engineering resources and avoid duplication.
  • Select and manage engineering software.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators.
  • Plan, recruit, and deploy human resources.
  • Ensure customer technical requirements are met.
  • Review third-party designs for compliance.
  • Identify and manage engineering risks.
  • Support projects and production with timely deliverables.
  • Consider construction methods and efficiency.
  • Determine outsourcing needs.
  • Standardize engineering details.
  • Develop succession plans and support employee development.
  • Support commercial, procurement, and supply chain processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards.

Working Relationships:

  • Internal: Engineering Department, other business units, Senior Management, CEO
  • External: Customers, Classification Societies, Suppliers, Subcontractors, Consultants, Inspection Agencies

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Experience: 20+ years in offshore rig or shipbuilding, including 5+ years in senior management
  • Preferred: Doctorate/master’s degree, additional certifications in rig/shipbuilding design, project management
  • Skills: Knowledge of engineering design for heavy offshore fabrication, cost architecture, leading technical contract meetings, and exposure to basic, detail, and production design in rig/shipbuilding.
