Southern California TRS Staffing Solutions are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer on a contract basis to join our client's EPC team based in Denver, CO, please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications:
Job Description
Operating under detailed instructions and reviewing, the purpose of this position is to provide the essential technical knowledge and perform the work listed. This role has the responsibility to promote our client's competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. The purpose of this position is to work on design and layout of complex scope and may serve as Design Area Lead.
Job Duties:
• Creates, reviews and checks deliverables including the following but not limited to:
o SLD’s, load lists, schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnection drawings, equipment lists, cable schedules, lighting layouts, cable tray layouts, cable tray fill reports, electrical installation details, grounding layouts, lightning protection layouts, JB layouts, E-House layouts
• Performs design calculations for lighting levels, raceway fill, cable sizing, voltage drop, OC protection devices, UPS sizing, JB sizing
• Checks drawings produced by suppliers and equipment / skid unit providers. Provides comments.
• Works from schematics, sketches and verbal instructions.
• May guide the work of less skilled designers and may act in a lead capacity.
• Perform field assistance
• Other duties as assigned
Basic Job Requirements
A combination of education and directly related experience equal to 6 years or more years of experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Other Job Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an EPC environment focused upon delivery of E&I design packages for small to medium sized projects.
• Projects will be executed in a multi-discipline team environment.
• Position reports to the E&I Engineering Manager / Senior Design Engineering Specialist
depending on assignment.
• The Designer works under minimal supervision with Design Engineers and is responsible for the complete design and documentation package for electrical items.
• Produces deliverables as required to fulfill project needs either as an individual contributor or as part of a team of electrical and I&C engineers and designers, dependent upon project size and scope.
• Home office location is Denver, CO
• Up to 10% travel may be necessary to satisfy project requirements
• Extensive Drafting Background with ACAD.
• Fundamental understanding of electrical and I&C design and manufacturing techniques and thorough understanding of manufacturing standards.
• Working knowledge of NEC, CEC
Preferred Qualifications
Associates of Applied Science or Technology degree in Drafting or Design
• Experience in a petrochemical, refining, material handling, and / or mining environment is preferred.
• Knowledge and use of SmartPlant (SPEL, SPI, SPPID) and E-Plan design tools is a plus.
• Field experience is a plus.
