Our client specializes in large, complex steel fabrications within the defense industry, and they are seeking a Materials Supervisor to join their team in Ladson, SC. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities of workers concerned with receiving, inventorying, picking, and preparing products for same day receiving and shipping both nationally and internationally.
  • Identify work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow.
  • Issue written and oral instructions.
  • Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to customer’s shipping and packaging requests and procedures.
  • Standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers.
  • Maintain harmony among workers and resolve grievances.
  • Ensure correct shipment of all jobs have been completely processed and verified accurate through quality.
  • Monitor material handlers, forklift drivers, and CDL drivers for productivity.
  • Constant communication with our suppliers and internal departments to ensure on time delivery.
  • Interaction with our vendors and the sales department to address their needs, inquiries and requests.
  • Ship priority jobs and ensure all necessary paperwork is shipped with all jobs.
  • Review and monitor production schedules for the most accurate results with consideration to capacity levels, efficiency, etc.
  • Reviewing and monitoring ordering systems and acting on order releases to meet our overall goal of customer satisfaction, while ensuring compliance with our company policy.
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Associates degree from an accredited college or university; and three to five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years of shipping/receiving experience or equivalent specialized training and/or work experience.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of production control processes and procedures.
  • Must work in and develop a 5S environment.
  • Must have working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Ability to maneuver up to 200 lbs. independently.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve their best.
  • Strong communication skills to ensure clarity and collaboration.
  • Experience in identifying and resolving problems quickly and efficiently.
  • A history of promoting a culture of learning, self-assessment, and development.
  • Must demonstrate honesty, reliability, and respect in all interactions.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality results efficiently.
