Job Summary: We are looking for a committed Director of Food Safety to lead and continuously improve the Food Safety and Quality assurance for all products. This role also involves providing support to other operations and business units as necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee the FSQ and Sanitation team.
- Manage daily FSQ operations.
- Approve purchases related to FSQ and Sanitation.
- Lead initiatives that involve cross-departmental Food Safety efforts.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in Quality Systems Management.
- Must have experience in a supervisory role within Quality Assurance, involving decision-making responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and FSQ management systems.
- Develop and maintain the Quality Management System.
- Enforce site policies, FSQ standards, and safe food handling practices.
- Maintain and validate training records for compliance.
- Conduct industry benchmarking and suggest improvements.
- Develop risk assessments and implement FSQ training programs.
- Supervise laboratory functions and assess product quality risks.
- Implement solutions to FSQ issues and ensure effective sanitation processes.
- Conduct regular reviews and promote a positive work culture.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Expertise in FSQ fundamentals, risk assessment, and problem-solving.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance principles and FDA/USDA regulations.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QA tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills.
- Ability to influence and effectively represent the company.
