Essential Engineering Services
TRS have been continually vigilant of COVID-19 situations across the world. With many countries ordering a complete shutdown – including the United States and the United Kingdom – there is an exception of essential services. In this article, we want to highlight the essential engineering industries continuing work around the world, as well as the brave and dedicated engineers following strict safety guidelines to support them.
Defense
There is a high demand for Defense and National Security-related firms, including those who work in aerospace, aeronautical, and nuclear services. Those who have experience in plant optimization particularly in the energy sector are highly sought after to ensure the productivity of the workplace. The Olympian confirms that “This critical infrastructure is divided into three interrelated segments or subsectors—electricity, oil, and natural gas—to include the production, refining, storage, and distribution of oil, gas, and electric power.” The Energy Sector supplies fuels to the transportation industry, electricity to households and businesses, and other sources of energy that are integral to growth and production across the Nation.
Logistics
Not only are energy sectors vital in keeping the globe running, as are Logistics services, including automotive engineers, civil engineers, and structural engineers. Logistics Manager reveals that James Clark, secretary-general of the British Truck Association said: “In these challenging times, we are pleased that the government has recognised that everyone working to keep essential supply chains open is a critical key worker.” With the rising demand for online purchasing and delivery, it is imperative the critical workers including pickers, packers, forklift drivers, maintenance engineers and delivery drivers are keeping the supply chain open and running as much as possible to ensure that other key industries can be maintained. This is the same for Technology services including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, civil engineers and those working within IT services in order to keep hospitals and supermarkets running at full capacity.
Grocery stores, food banks and convenience stores have been working around the clock after food shortages began. With many self-isolating or reducing the amount of outside access, it has put a strain on the Food services capabilities. NBC state that the president of the California Grocers Association said “grocery stores are pushing to hire more employees to keep up with the increase in demand. Customers should not be concerned about a shortage.” Many warehouses still have more than enough produce however the demand for more Food production and environmental engineers, as well as those working within Grocery stores are increasing to keep up with current demands.
Healthcare
Making sure that countries have the best access to health has been a major priority throughout the years, and has increased further over the past few weeks. Interesting Engineering highlight that “Healthcare providers, including doctors, dentists, hospitals, clinics, research and laboratory services, medical wholesale and distribution firms; this means there will be a demand for biomedical, biomechanical, and environmental engineers” Providing the public to the required support, as well as maintaining any required medications maintain the need for pharmacists and healthcare providers throughout the coming weeks. This also applies to those caring for elderly and/or vulnerable people to ensure they have access to support if required.
Banks, Insurance providers and Payroll and Accounting services are integral in keeping the economy running and ensuring people receive the financial support needed throughout this time. Accounting positions and Cost positions maintain the finances across the globe to reduce the economic impact as much as possible. The actions of this sector will directly impact other industries and their capabilities.
Manufacturing hugely impacts other industries capabilities to perform. For example, Food and Agricultural processing enables Supermarkets to be stocked with produce for the public, Pharmaceutical manufacturing provides various medicines and medical equipment to supply to hospitals and pharmacies, and Warehouse Distribution and Fulfilment centres provide the storage and delivery needs – the demands on this sector is endless. A skilled workforce is essential to meet the demands on Manufacturing. In life sciences, TRS are experienced in sourcing high-quality personnel at all levels across pharmaceutical, biotech, medical devices, general healthcare and R&D sectors. In manufacturing, our experience and technical knowledge equip us to supply staff and contractors to FMCG (fast moving consumer goods), food and beverage and component manufacturers.
To secure effective communication across the globe, Engineers specialising in utilities, sanitation, telecommunications, and transportation are recognised for their contributions to society and are valued for the needs across countries.
