Director of Operations  

We currently seek a high-caliber Director of Operations for a direct hire basis within our client’s team of experienced professionals Based in Fort Worth, Texas.  

 

POSITION SUMMARY 

 

This client is a rapidly growing oil and gas exploration and production company operating in the state of Texas. They are scaling from 20 to 200 wells and are implementing a sophisticated oil and gas operational database, to manage their assets effectively. They are seeking a Director of Operations to lead the implementation of this system, oversee daily field and office operations, and ensure regulatory compliance, financial accuracy, and production efficiency. This role is critical for their company’s growth. It requires someone with strong leadership, project management, and oilfield operations expertise. 

Position Overview: 

The Director of Operations will serve as the project leader and operational strategist, responsible for setting up, onboarding, and managing their oil & gas database, overseeing field and production operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing costs and revenue streams. This role requires a high-level project manager who can coordinate between land, compliance, accounting, production, and drilling teams, ensuring seamless execution across all company operations. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Quorum Database Implementation & Management 

  • Lead the setup and integration of the Quorum oil and gas operational software. 

  • Oversee data migration and onboarding of all wells into the system. 

  • Coordinate with the land, compliance, accounting, production, and drilling teams to ensure all required information is accurately entered into the system. 

  • Ensure ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of Quorum software, making recommendations for improvements. 

Operational Oversight & Project Management 

  • Act as the primary project manager, ensuring all operational tasks are executed efficiently. 

  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for managing 200+ oil wells. 

  • Maintain compliance with regulatory bodies, ensuring all permits, reports, and filings are completed on time. 

  • Work closely with field pumpers and production supervisors to track well performance and optimize production. 

  • Coordinate and oversee workover and drilling operations, ensuring efficient well interventions and new drills. 

Financial & Accounting Coordination 

  • Oversee financial reporting, working closely with the accounting team to track Lease Operating Expenses (LOEs) and Loss of Statement (LOS) reports. 

  • Ensure costs are aligned with production outputs to maintain financial efficiency. 

  • Assist in financial forecasting and budgeting for operational growth. 

Compliance & Regulatory Management 

  • Ensure all wells meet Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) and EPA compliance standards. 

  • Oversee the regulatory module within Quorum to track and manage compliance tasks. 

  • Keep accurate records and prepare reports for state and federal agencies. 

Leadership & Team Coordination 

  • Act as the liaison between the executive team and field operations. 

  • Assign tasks to team leads in production, accounting, land, and compliance and track progress. 

  • Ensure all stakeholders are aligned on company goals and operational priorities. 

  • Provide regular performance updates and reports to executive leadership. 

Key Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of experience in oil and gas operations, preferably managing multiple wells and field operations. 

  • Strong background in project management, ideally with experience in Quorum or similar oil & gas management software. 

  • Extensive knowledge of oil and gas accounting, production oversight, compliance, and lease management. 

  • Proven ability to lead large teams and coordinate multiple departments. 

  • Strong technical understanding of oil and gas production, drilling, and workovers. 

  • Experience with Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) regulatory compliance. 

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required if experience is strong). 

Salary Expectation: 

Base Salary: $160,000 – $220,000 per year 

Bonus Structure: Performance-based bonus tied to successful Quorum implementation, production efficiency, and compliance adherence. 

Equity/Profit-Sharing (Optional): Depending on experience and long-term company goals. 

 

The suggested $160K–$220K salary is based on industry standards for Director of Operations roles in mid-sized oil and gas firms, particularly those leading large-scale field expansions.
