Electrical Design Engineer

For our client, active in the Hydrogen business (engineering), we are looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to join their Engineering team in the Randstad area. After a secondment period, it is their intention to offer a direct contract.

Our client is a system integrator of green hydrogen systems. Using the company's electrolysis technology, they design, supply, and maintain systems that enables the clean energy transition. The company (multinational) is the leading provider of clean hydrogen and zero-emission fuel cell solutions that are both cost-effective and reliable.  

The EU ambition is to install at least 40 gigawatts (GW) of renewable hydrogen electrolysers by 2030, in order to become climate-neutral by 2050. The company is well positioned to bring a significant contribution to this goal!

The job:
Oversee the Electrical Design during the different phases of a project. Making sure the engineering package including technical design corresponds to the company standard, client specifications and market trends. Additionally, the design engineer ensures that design decisions are aligned with project goals, schedule and commercial targets.

Accountabilities:
• Making and maintaining scope overview between the company's offices and executing/guiding Electrical engineering activities within a multidisciplinary team.
• Providing (technical) expertise during different project phases
• Making a technical design which is technically sound, cost effective, conform to client specifications and as per agreed schedule.
• Responsible for technical communication with external engineering parties and clients.
• Ensuring adequate knowledge level is maintained in the field of expertise. Developing knowledge and skills together with other Electrical engineers to be able to address current and future project needs.
• Provide support during the sales and basic design phase and help estimating costs of the project (hours, equipment and construction budgets).
• Setting up technical engineering packages required for procurement of electrical packages and equipment.
• Act as consultant for internal I&C department

Requested:
• Expert technical knowledge regarding: LV and MV power distribution (HV is an advantage), UPS systems, power electronic converters, substation automation, substation and plant earthing systems and lightning protection.
• Excellent knowledge of project stages and EPC execution model.
• Global knowledge of activities within all engineering disciplines and their dependencies.
• Ability to complete the engineering package independently, responsible for planning and a technically and commercially sound engineering package in accordance with legislation and specifications.
• Ability to take constraints of other disciplines into account.
• Mentoring Jr. Design Engineers.
• Ability to identify risks and possible consequences and anticipate a correct way to minimize it.
• Set standards for engineering which ensure safe and reliable products.
• Excellent communication skills in English language (additional knowledge of the Dutch language is an advantage).
• Willingness to travel if required for the project. Typically, client or supplier visits.
• You are already eligible to work in The Netherlands (EU Passport).
