Maintaining and promoting a safe, healthy and injury-free environment is imperative.
In this role you will transport scrap materials throughout the yard, feed conveyors and other equipment, sort, stack, bundle and stamp materials, and perform other activities to assist process and machine operations.
- Keeps work area clean and ready to go daily
- Assists shredder mechanics in changing out conveyors, bearing shafts and greasing
- Pick copper and ASR to ensure that quality material is shipped to our customers
- Completing manual labor tasks outside in all weather elements
- Adhere to all appropriate Standard Operating Procedures
- Observe and follow all safety rules and regulations on site
- Notify appropriate personnel of any procedural abnormalities including faulty operation, defective equipment and all other unusual conditions.
- Wear PPE gear at all times including hard hat, safety glasses, and metatarsal boots while on site
- Assists in meeting monthly production goals
- Performs other duties as they might be assigned
Requirements
- No experience necessary but previous work experience in a manufacturing, production, or similar scrapyard environment will be considered an asset
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting, pushing and pulling up to 40lbs
- Mechanically inclined
- Self-motivated: Initiates and takes action before being required to do so
- Strong communication skills – communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and over mobile radio devices
- Uses time efficiently, works safely, and ensures everyone around them is working safely
- Strong command of the English language both written and spoken
Schedule
Monday - Friday 7am to 4pm, may require some overtime as workload dictates.
Pay: $22/hr
Length of assignment: 3+ months
