Job Description: Principal Design Engineer (2 needs)
Location: Greenville, SC (Remote and/or hybrid)
Contract (6 months +)


General Description:
The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This is the Lead position on assigned projects or performs engineering assignments of any complexity. Candidates that will best fit this role shall have experience designing expansive enclosed superstructures for the following industry sectors: semiconductor, microelectronics, biopharma, cleanroom equipment support and access platforms.
• Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including workforce forecasts
• Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts
• Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
• Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
• Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of difficult engineering complexity
• Serve as Supervising Lead providing guidance/supervision to other leads and function as mentor to less experienced engineers including performance appraisal input and counseling
• Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Ideal Requirements:
• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study
• Strong RISA3D (or similar software) structural analysis and design software skills.
• Preferred Semiconductor experience would include experience in foundation mat design of large structures and/or minimum of 5 years’ experience in design of a fab superstructure or other large industrial concrete building.
• Optionally (but preferred), candidate would have experience with any or several of the following:
• Design/collaboration with precast vendors for precast design emulation of concrete superstructures, including waffle slabs
• Working with consultants to design to vibration criteria VC-C or higher; fabroom floor loading requirements and allocating loads for laterals and MEP distribution
• Column spacing vs tool requirements vs deflection criteria
• AMHS support; shear walls
• Seismic design considerations as it relates to laterals and MEP systems
• Professional registration and membership in technical society
• Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
• Deep foundation design experience
• Design for heavy equipment loads on elevated floors
• Framing systems for large open spans
• Vibration analysis
• Multi storied buildings with floors of varied layouts and loads
• Biotech and/or Micro-electronic facility design experience
• Interstitial / walkable ceiling systems
• Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting
• Managing and leading a large project
• Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-out
• Practical field experience
• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
