Our client is seeking a Quality Technician to join their team in Ladson, SC. This person will perform visual & dimensional checks on incoming components from suppliers to the receiving inspection manual. They will also be responsible for performing inspections for pre-checks, in-process, and final inspections to our procedures and work instruction requirements.

The QT will need to have knowledgeable of our products, procedures, and work instructions to enforce these practices with shop personnel. The Quality Technician is to maintain the Calibration program to ensure measurement integrity and to protect our customer’s by upholding our quality system standards.

Duties include:
  • Work with receiving personnel to coordinate receipt of goods for items that may require incoming dimensional/visual checks, further processing, or receipt verification to inventory.
  • Perform & document results of dimensional/visual checks per receiving inspection manual.
  • Perform & document the results of assembly & testing pre-check / in-process for Vent and Flame Arresters assemblies.
  • Perform & document results of inspection on Flame Filter Discs as required per procedure.
  • Perform & document results of Final shipment of goods confirmation & verification per procedure.
  • As applicable, identify and segregate non-conforming materials per our procedures and instructions.
  • Support shop personnel with any questions regarding product conformity and proper safe working practices.
  • Support the flow of product on the production floor.
  • Support non-conformance investigations for root-cause & corrective actions, if required.
  • Educate and enforce all procedures, work instructions and safety rules with shop personnel.
  • All duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Manage the Calibration program.
    • Performing internal calibration per schedule.
    • Pull gages off the floor, deliver & pick-up items to and from the outside calibration house.
    • Review all calibration results and discuss discrepancies with QA Manager. Perform risk assessments if gages are found out of tolerance.
    • Maintain records schedule using the Maintain X system.

Requirements
  • At minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent, associate degree preferred.
  • Capable of reading and understanding mechanical drawings, use of measuring tools i.e., calipers, micrometers.
  • Metrology (calibration) external training or certificate.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing industry i.e., ISO9001 Quality Management System.
  • Meticulous, organized with good documentation and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel. LN and Maintain X knowledge a plus.
  • Safety requirements, requires employee to wear steel-toe shoe/boot, standing, bending, stooping, lifting (up to 50lbs.), lifting above your shoulders (up to 25lbs.), safety glasses. Hearing protection is required where posted.
