Summary:
The Safety Officer is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing employee safety of our client’s facilities located in Bristol, PA and Lewistown, PA with significant travel required.
The Safety Officer will also oversee and ensure the company is in compliance and adheres to OSHA guidelines, conduct risk assessment and enforcing preventative measures, employee safety training and assist with the implementation of policies as it relates to safety and/or waste management.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with the enforcing hazardous waste management policies and procedures
• Conduct routine safety audits at all site locations
• Conduct employee safety training to maintain regulatory compliance
• Oversee and review emergency response measures and programs
• Work with VP of Safety and Operations to establish and implement industrial hygiene policies and procedures, as applicable
• Coordinate and organize the activities of the emergency spill team and equipment spill cart and fire
• Conduct safety equipment inspections and ensure prompt repairs accordingly
• Conduct all new employee training in addition to annual refresher trainings
• Assist with the Haz-Waste on the waste pad, as needed
• Perform annual fit testing of respirators
• Perform Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and evaluation of all UCT processes in coordination with VP of Safety and Operations
• Complete and maintain OSHA 300 Logs; assist as needed in preparing other reports and files
• Assist VP of Safety and Operations prepare and/or participate with representing the company at seminars, community meetings, legal proceedings, OSHA conferences and other regulatory conferences, investigations or proceedings
• Interact with all levels of employees and regulatory officials, safety and waste vendors in the absence of VP of Safety and Operations, as required
• Coordinate quarterly fire drills for all company locations
• Coordinate and facilitate monthly Safety Committee meetings at all site locations
Required Experience:
• BS in Environmental Sciences, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related Chemical Field required
• 3-5 years years’ of related experience
• Must have thorough knowledge of Chemical Hygiene Standards & Industrial Practices
• Must have a strong background with OSHA regulations
• Certificate of completion of OSHA 40 HAZWOPER course required
• Must be well versed with ANSI and NIOSH Standards
