Are you passionate about safety and eager to make a difference in the innovative field of process automation? We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Safety Officer to join our client’s team based in Cape Town. Collaborating with multiple stakeholders such as Business Managers, Factory Managers, Project Managers and Contractors in a diverse number of industries at any given time such as Petrochemical, Mining, Food and Beverage etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists line managers, site managers, site supervisors and project managers in understanding obligations, liability and how to fulfill their roles, according to Local HSE law and the client group policy, instructions and standards.
- Facilitate HSE risk assessments by line management involving shop floor employees, those directly concerned by the hazards and ensure all processes are implemented.
- Engage external customers, suppliers and other stakeholders and internal stakeholders, in order to report on, raise awareness and gain commitment to the clients’ HSE efforts and performance and obtain objective feedback.
- Ensure appropriate safety equipment, tools and PPE are available and used.
- Assist the organization in the Group Management System (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001).
- Contribute and execute HSE, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility (CR) related projects.
- Develop and report on project objectives.
Qualification & Skills Requirements:
- National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or Environmental Management- Must
- SACPCMP- CHSO/CHSM- Must
- Minimum 2 years of HSE experience.
- Preference with some electrical experience.
- A good working knowledge and application of current Local, Government and Industry
- Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations.
- Experience investigating EHS incidents and assessing risk.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with federal, state, and local regulators.
- Experience with OSHA and experience implementing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is preferred.
- Experience with Intelex HSE software is a plus.
- Professional Certification from a nationally recognized organization desired (e.g. SAIOSH)
- HSE Training such as- HIRA, First Aid, Construction regulations. etc.
