Location: Augusta, GA
Pay: $120-135k
Industry: industrial metals processing/industrial manufacturing, complex processing
Status of Hire: full-time, contract hire
Duration of Contract: 6 month contract, could go longer, could eventually go direct
The Senior Project Engineer has the overall scope ownership responsibility for assigned project scope. Leads process towards scope definition and support awarding: Full Scope of Work creation covering all aspects (HSE, Construction, PMO, ENG, etc.), definition of technical vendor selection criteria, technical bid evaluation, and support internal procurement in bidding process, and vendor evaluation & selection. Furthermore, supporting the engineering team on various aspects such as supporting (or leading) design reviews, technical evaluation of Project Change Directives, SOW creation, technical bid evaluation, and taking care of specific engineering queries.
Responsibilities
- Support construction, ensuring that all design requirements are met and that the design is practical and cost effective
- Support the Engineering Team with discipline expertise and specific design/review tasks
- Responsible for coordination between internal engineering team (especially Design Manager), engineering firms, the project team and contractors to ensure that drawings packages are delivered to the field in time to meet the schedule
- Collaborate with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that the design meets all regulatory and safety requirements and is delivered on time and within budget
- Provide technical advice and guidance to the design team as required
- Support managing the resolution of any design related issues that arise during the project, including changes to the design, scope, or budget
- Single Point of Contact for Procurement for assigned scope
- Support engineering/design Interface Management, ensuring that the various battery limits of units and design packages fully cover scope and no gaps in Construction and Commx occur
Experience Required
- 8+ years of experience in engineering design and construction practices and standards
- 4+ years of experience managing engineering teams and coordinating with other engineering and construction disciplines
- Experience managing external engineering consultants
- Experience with major mechanical equipment included in smelting process preferred
- Bachelor or Master in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Professional Engineering (PE) license, or other similar credential (CESCP, CPSE) is preferred
- Proficiency in relevant Engineering and PMO tools, e.g. AutoCAD, MS Projects, NavisWorks
- Strong Office 365 proficiency
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively
- Overall scope ownership responsibility for assigned project scope; develop and freeze assigned project scope
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide
- and complex range of stakeholders
- Strong project management skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to details and technicalities
- Strong critical and analytical thinking and quantitative skills
- Comfort with fast paced, quickly changing environment
