A leading company that has evolved from a steel supplier to a distinguished leader in the global steel sector is now seeking a Steel Sales Representative. This organization has set the standard in acquiring a diverse array of specialty steel and is committed to ensuring timely and efficient deliveries. The successful candidate will oversee operations and sales in the Durban region, South Africa playing a crucial role in driving the company’s continued success.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • A good track record specializing in the marketing of hardwearing and high strength structural steel merchant plates as well as the normal carbon steels (S355JR-AR).
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the above-mentioned steel types and their respective applications.
  • Be responsible to manage the operation as well as be responsible for sales. The operation will be a +- 1000m2 factory holding stock and 2 staff members (Driver & Foreman).
  • Experience in the cut to size market although not essential.
  • Be able to quote the respective materials.
  • Experienced with demonstrated sales results.
  • Be in the position to be away from home for prolonged period of time if required.
  • Self-Disciplined – Is on the road 90% of the time.
  • Maintain a professional company image at all times.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales performance.
  • Monitor market conditions in relation to competitors.

QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
  • Accredited Tertiary qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in operations and sales within Steel Sales Industry.
  • An advantage if the candidate has an existing client base.
  • Build strong and successful relationships with clients.
  • Computer skills MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
