As Technical Services Manager your role will be to develop long term strategic mine planning, be a leader for a broad range of mining technical aspects (e.g. fleet sizing) and support M&A.
Your roles and responsibilities as Technical Services Manager will include:
• Strategic Mine Planning that maximizes value of our assets
• Life of Mine planning standards and execution
• Consolidation of medium and long-term planning information from all assets
• Strategic guidance to business units’ mine planning and technical teams
• Shape strategic evolution and ensure sustainability of mining operations, Orebody Knowledge
• Provide guidance in the development of Life of Mine plans (LOM) and provide mine planning guidance to business units
• Implement best practices in mine planning across the operating units
• Develop Life of Mine plans (LOM)
• Initiate and lead scenario planning for medium and long-term mine plans in response to market and
business performance.
• Implementing standardised mine planning data storage and management systems.
• Analyse and interpret Mining data and take corrective actions as required.
• Ensure regulatory requirements with respect to strategic mine planning are met
• Opportunity evaluation for potential developments and expansion in coordination with M&A team
• Collaborate with Manager Resources and Exploration and appraisal of resource and reserve base to ensure pipeline for future mine development - for all mining assets (including captive assets)
• Mining portfolio resources strategy: ensuring right volumes and quality are being planned and mined, resulting in right products for max shareholder value
• Providing input to Mergers and Acquisitions evaluations.
• Participating in the Mining Segment strategic planning process.
• Leverage the company into Exploration and Orebody Knowledge for value generation in mineral resources
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
• Strong leadership, management and mentoring skills
• Technical excellence in mine planning, strategic mine plans, scheduling optimization, mine designs, fleet selection
• Proven experience in managing life of mine plans
• Consulting background and worldwide experience a plus
• Extensive and demonstrated international experience in the identification and economic extraction of Iron Ore and Coal.
• Mine planning of large scale mining operations
• Experience in mine-to-mill integration processes
• Highly skilled with Whittle, pit optimization and scheduling systems
• Experience with Talpac, XPAC, XERAS, Minesight, Surpac, GEMS, Datamine, Vulcan systems
• Able to travel often to business units (up to 50% of the time) and at short notice
