Company is a Dallas-based private energy company focused on the acquisition and development of large, producing oil and gas assets in the United States. Firm is executing on a non-operated strategy throughout the U.S. onshore. Company’s current assets include ~1,000 wells totaling ~17,000 BOE/day across the Permian Basin, Haynesville Shale and DJ Basin.
Company is supported by a private investment firm based in Houston, Texas focused on long-term investments in the global oil and gas industry.
We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our growing business. The Assistant Controller will oversee the operations of the accounting department, ensuring its structure and processes align with the company’s goals and deadlines. The position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer of our Private Investment firm, and is located at our headquarters in Dallas, Texas. This is a high exposure role that will expand along with the business.
Responsibilities
• Oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Department inclusive of internal and external resources
• Monthly processing of all Joint Interest Billing (JIB), Revenue and month end accrual accounting entries in line with procedures
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Ensure timely payment of accounts payable and optimize discounts on these payments
• Ensure prompt collection of accounts receivable
• Ensure completion of bank reconciliations
• Oversee timely debt payments and maintain an organized accounting filing system
• Manage the chart of accounts and maintain control over accounting transactions
• Issue timely and accurate financial statements
• Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
• Work with the Finance Director to develop benchmarks to measure company performance and monitor financial and operational metrics.
• Lead the production of the annual budget and forecasts, analyzing variances and reporting significant issues.
• Provide financial analyses for capital investments
• Coordinate communications with external auditors for the annual audit.
• Ensure all local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings are met on time

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
7+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, with a strong emphasis on Oil & Gas E&P
• CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills; accuracy and timeliness are essential
• Strong mathematical and analytical abilities
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Strong Excel skills
Familiarity with Quorum ODA and EnergyLink integration is a plus
