As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be tasked with driving impactful, technical projects which improve product quality, lower production costs, and improve productivity while ensuring strict adherence to safety, quality, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct projects to simplify work processes, improve tooling, improve throughput, reduce scrap, and ensure equipment reliability.
- Collaborate with other departments to investigate and address quality-related issues using methodologies like 8D, Kaizen, DMAIC, and root cause analysis.
- Develop and maintain production-related documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Work alongside production supervisors, operators, toolmakers and maintenance staff to identify and address production needs.
- Provide guidance for designing and troubleshooting automation systems.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges in production, identify root causes, implement solutions, and monitor their effectiveness using empirical data.
- Work with cost accountants to understand opportunities for improvement to the process which will lead to improved financial performance.
- Design and deploy essential tools, fixtures, or equipment to boost production efficiency, reduce errors, improve inspections, and improve ergonomics.
- Develop lean cell layouts and workflows to minimize waste and enhance productivity / ergonomics.
- Maintain professional and technical expertise by attending tradeshows and continuing education workshops.
- Participate in PPAP process, including drawing feasibility reviews, manufacturing reviews, Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEAs) reviews, etc.
Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
- Must possess good analytical and problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- 5-10 years minimum experience in a medium/high volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, 5S, and Lean manufacturing tools.
- Comfortable with hands-on interaction with mechanical and electrical components.
- 3D CAD experience in SolidWorks strongly preferred.
- GD&T experience preferred.
- Experience with automation design and/or programming a plus.
- Experience with vision system technology a plus.
- ERP experience a plus.
- Must be driven self-starter that works with little supervision.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess the ability to multi-task and set priorities.
- Must be a Team player and have the ability to interact effectively with all departments within the Company.
- Must have good windows-based PC skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, etc).
- Must be familiar with time studies.
- ISO/QS knowledge a plus.
- Plastic Injection/Insert Molding and/or Progressive Stamping Experience a plus.
