The DCS Programmer is responsible for ensuring that all DCS & PLC systems related to the self-contained desert oil production facilities are fully functional. He implements new software and updates, as required, existing software in line with operational requirements and troubleshoots all equipment both software and hardware to ensure continuous operation. Carry out regular service/overhaul works as required and instigate updates that he feels are required. Directly reporting to the Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent. |
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Minimum 10 years of experience in PLC and DCS programming preferably with an internationally recognized qualification mostly in oil and gas.
- Experience with configuration, programming, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of Siemens S5, S7, and PCS7 V6.0-V9.0 systems including programming of Siemens PLCs with Software STEP7 and usage of CFC & HMI programming with Siemens WinCC and TIA portal.
- Good knowledge of common Industrial Control systems, ABB, Bentley Nevada, Omron, etc.
- Good knowledge of network equipment like Ethernet Switches, Firewalls, & Fiber Optic Systems
- Very good knowledge of Process Instrumentation (Flow, Pressure, Level, Temperature), Control Valves, Variable Speed Drives, Online Analyzers, hart protocol Instruments, etc.
- Very good knowledge of safety instrumented systems (SIS).
- Very good knowledge of the design and maintain industrial data communication networks including Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus, Ethernet/ IP, and TCP/IP, Fiber optic communications.
- Good working knowledge of PC software e.g. MS Office and computer networking.
- Good knowledge and understanding of oil production and treatment facilities including, but not limited to, oil/gas separation, treatment and export, gas dehydration, compression and export and power plant operation including load management systems.
- Good understanding of P&IDs, PFDs and general drawings related to the process facilities, instrumentation, and control.
- A valid certificate of competency for working in hazardous areas would be advantageous.
- Fluent in spoken and written English, preferred European nationality.
