We’re seeking a dedicated Environmental Lead to join our client’s team. The Environmental Lead role involves leading in a specific discipline, developing study designs, and mentoring others. The role includes providing senior review, leading data compilation, and conducting complex analyses. Assistance with proposals, acquisition of permits, and development of plans are also part of the responsibilities. Regular interactions with clients and professionals are a key aspect of this role. This is a full-time permanent position.

Salary Range: $55-70/Hour
 
Responsibilities: 
 
  • Leads in terms of professionalism, safety, and quality standards, and serves as a go-to resource in their area of practice.
  • Ensures safety compliance, reports any incidents or near-misses, and ensures that equipment used on projects is safe and well-maintained.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in study design and quality assurance/control to ensure high-quality data collection.
  • Works on staff recruitment for projects, recommends and delivers training programs, and provides on-the-job training and feedback.
  • Reviews proposals, identifies new business opportunities, secures new business with existing and new clients, and maintains key contacts.
  • Reviews, approves, and prepares complex reports, provides expert opinions, and conducts complex data and statistical analyses.
  • Proactively manages schedules, identifies and addresses issues or opportunities for improvement, and maintains a neat and orderly working area.
  • Serves as a point of contact for technical aspects of projects, communicating regulatory requirements and project details to staff, clients, and regulators.
  • Develops technical specifications for projects and ensures their implementation, while effectively managing schedules and budgets.
  • Manages project team members, assigns tasks, and participates in the performance management and development process.

Qualifications: 
 
  • Possesses a minimum of 15 years of specialized experience in the environmental industry or a combination of experience and an advanced degree. Holds a relevant degree, with preference for an advanced degree.
  • Holds relevant safety or other certifications and has experience with various equipment and safety procedures.
  • Has experience supervising multiple crews and crews leads.
  • Has experience resolving complex technical issues, leading complex data analyses, and is proficient with computers and MS Office.
  • Has experience leading proposals and developing and reviewing work plans.
  • Shows expertise in field data collection according to current best practices and relevant standards.
  • Has experience applying for regulatory approvals and working with regulators to resolve issues.
  • Demonstrates technical knowledge in a specialized area and has expertise in species identification and habitat description.
  • Maintains good standing with a relevant professional organization and holds a professional designation.
  • Holds certification and experience in operating various vehicles such as boats, quads, side-by-sides, and snowmobiles.
  • Possesses a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
