Job Description: Structural Steel Fabrication and Erection Engineer

Type: Third-Party Payroll

Location: Jamnagar, Gujarat, India

Responsibilities:

1. Fabrication Oversight: Manage and oversee the fabrication of various structural steel components, including plate sections, ducts, chutes, belt conveyor galleries, steel platforms, staircases, sheds, duct supports, silo roof plate girders, and clinker silo roofing. Ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.

2. Coordination: Collaborate with fabrication yards and subcontractors to schedule production, monitor progress, and address any fabrication-related challenges. Review and approve fabrication drawings prepared by vendors.

3. Quality Inspections: Conduct quality inspections of fabricated steel components to verify dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications. Ensure adherence to project requirements.

4. Logistics Planning: Plan and coordinate the transportation and delivery of fabricated steel components to the project site. Optimize logistics to minimize delays and costs.

5. On-Site Supervision: Lead and supervise on-site erection activities for structural steel components, including clinker silo roofs. Prioritize safety, quality, and compliance with project schedules.

6. Technical Collaboration: Collaborate closely with project managers, structural engineers, and construction teams. Resolve technical issues, interpret engineering drawings, and ensure seamless coordination between fabrication and erection activities.

7. Guidance and Support: Provide technical guidance and support to on-site construction teams, including subcontractors and laborers. Facilitate efficient and effective erection of structural steel components.

8. Inspections and Corrections: Regularly inspect erected steel structures to identify deficiencies or deviations from design specifications. Implement corrective actions as necessary.

9. Documentation: Document all fabrication and erection activities, including progress reports, inspection records, and as-built drawings. Maintain accurate records of project milestones and achievements.

10. Fabrication Inspection Reports: Prepare fabrication inspection reports (FIR) for fabrication items. Also, handle contractor bills and maintain proper records for rolling margins and material reconciliation.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering.

2. Experience: 8 to 10 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, erection, and on-site construction management, with a specific focus on clinker silo roofs.

3. Expertise: Proven expertise in fabricating structural steel components, including plate sections, ducts, and chutes, using industry-standard techniques.

4. Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards. Ability to interpret and implement engineering drawings and specifications.

5. Non-Negotiable: Previous experience in clinker silo roof fabrication and erection.

6. Soft Skills: Good leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively coordinate and supervise on-site construction activities.

7. Software Proficiency: Proficient in project management software and tools for scheduling, tracking, and reporting on fabrication and erection activities.
