You play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of personnel working on offshore vessels, rigs, or other marine facilities. Your responsibilities encompass various aspects related to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities:
Overall HSSEQ Strategy:
- Act as an intermediary to the company’s overall HSSEQ (Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality) strategy.
- Align your work with the company’s mission, strategy, and core values.
- Monitor and verify vessel operations to ensure adherence to company policies and the documented management system.
- Coordinate with the Head of HSSEQ and/or Designated Person Ashore (DPA) to identify potential deviations and provide guidance for corrective actions onboard the vessels.
- Support the Head of HSSEQ in effectively implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the company’s SMS.
- Ensure compliance with recognized authorities’ standards and certification requirements.
- Collaborate with Vessel Technical Superintendents and Vessel Operators to ensure uninterrupted safe and secure vessel operations.
- Address matters related to cargo handling, navigation, and loss prevention.
- Conduct internal ISM (International Safety Management) and ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security) audits as needed.
- Develop training materials and provide onboard training related to audit findings, HSSEQ campaigns, and inspection results.
- Serve as a resource for vessel Masters and Deck Officers on marine technical matters:
- Safety protocols
- Firefighting procedures
- Navigation and voyage planning
- Cargo operations
- Stability and stress calculations
- Communications
- Emergency response
- Assist with incident investigations, non-conformity close-outs, and other audit findings.
- Develop and draft new HSSEQ procedures and documentation as required.
- Maintain health, safety, security, environmental statistics, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Stay up-to-date with relevant maritime legislation and standards.
- Collaborate with Chartering, Operation, and Technical Departments on HSSEQ matters.
- Optimize the company’s Safety Management System according to the ISM Code.
- Keep the Rightship database updated with vessel details, investigations, and inspections.
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in HSE, engineering, or any relevant field
- At least 10 years' experience as an HSE Manager in the offshore industry
- Extensive knowledge of HSE regulations and standards particularly in offshore operations
- Certifications in NEBOSH or OSHA and experience in conducting HSE training and inductions preferred
- Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Ability to develop and implement HSE management systems and drive a strong safety culture within the organization
