Key Responsibilities:

Inspect and repair high voltage electrical system ensuring the continuance of electrical service and safety of the electrical systems in the facilities

Perform electrical safety inspections, maintenance and repair on a continual basis - All electrical work shall be done in accordance with the National Electrical Code

Perform maintenance and repair for the site road transformers and panels and all 13.8 kV switchgear and 125V associated battery system - This maintenance includes periodic electrical shutdowns to perform torqueing, cleaning and testing of equipment

Perform an infrared inspection of all maintained equipment quarterly

Repairs and maintains variable frequency drives (VFD) - Uses infrared thermography to investigate electrical system components and VFDs. Excludes any service typically performed by the manufacturer's representative - Excludes breaker testing and repairs and other services typically performed by the manufacturer's representative; generator repairs; modifications to original design of electrical distribution equipment; any service that requires proprietary software or access

Skills / Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent

Minimum of five (5) years of experience with 13.8 KV and 480V switchgear

Maintain a valid driver’s license

Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Must be able to:

climb/work from ladders and scaffolds

occasionally work after-hours and on weekends to support customer requirements

operate boom, scissor, and fork lifts

walk great distances to perform duties (>1 mi frequently)

work with minimum supervision and with other personnel and crafts

work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to changing priorities

work outside during adverse weather conditions

work in confined spaces and on roofs

Ideal Qualifications:

Minimum of five (5) years of experience with 13.8 KV, 480V switchgear, and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) system

High Voltage Certification and Cable Splicing Certification (5KV – 35 KV electrical system)
