The role offers an opportunity to provide critical insights into opportunities for improvement, maintain existing data systems, and assist in providing business analytics, cost control, and reporting.
COST ANALYST - This is a 12-month contract position with the possibility of extension. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical and decision-making abilities, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.
Employment Status: Independent Contractor
Work Location: Calgary or Sparwood
Working Hours: Mon-Thu 7:00am-4:00pm, Fri 7:00am-3:00pm, with one Friday off every 2 weeks.
Hybrid Mode: 3 days in the office (hot desk) and 2 days work from home
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
-Facilitating finance planning, cost controls, transaction processing, financial reporting, and business analysis.
-Working closely with various departments across the business units, such as AP and Supply Chain Team.
-Providing timely Financial and Operational Reporting and Cost Control functions.
Qualifications:
-3+ experience in full cycle accounting, financial planning, or operational continuous improvement, preferably in the resources, mining, oil & gas industries.
-A professional accounting designation (CPA) is an asset.
-Advanced user of financial data and reporting systems, such as Microsoft Office Suite® Excel, PowerPoint, Power Query, and Power BI.
-Experience in Dynamics AX, D365, Atlas Reporting, Hyperion, or OneStream is an asset.
-Programming knowledge such as Python is an asset.
