Environmental Scientist, Rem/Rec

The Opportunity

Our client, an International industry leader in the Environmental Consultancy sector is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join their team in Grande Prairie to work on projects within Western Canada. This is a great opportunity for individuals looking to further progress their careers within environmental sciences and regulatory projects. The ideal candidate would have 3 previous years’ experience in the industry, with knowledge of current provincial and federal legislation.
As an individual within the environmental industry you will have strong understanding of forestry, agriculture and the oil field industry with exposure to Tier I & II lifecycles on projects, including Phase I & II Rec/Rem applications and reporting (RCA’s). You will be responsible for planning and managing field projects & programs such as supervising remediation projects, performing pre-reclamation assessments, vegetation monitoring, site maintenance, full reclamation earthworks, and conducting detailed site assessments. In addition, you will be responsible for cost estimates, reporting, tracking project requirements and understanding client needs.

Qualifications

• Degree/ Diploma Environmental Science, biology, forestry, agriculture or related degree
• Remediation & reclamation, vegetation & wetland site assessments
• Well-versed in vegetation and wetlands surveys, rare plants surveys, and weed surveys.
• Strong earthworks understanding for Rem/Rec projects
