To assist Superintendent for all welding and construction of new build rig. To be involved in creating work packs and planning of daily jobs and interfacing with all departments for completion of works. Apart from being well versed in the various welding processes, to provide on-site coordination for all phases of work, including planning of consumables, welders/ subcontractors’ allocation, and detailed scheduling as per project requirements. To ensure projects are completed safely, on time.
Education:
• Bachelor Engineering Degree or equivalent.
• IWE / EWE qualified.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in the English Language.
Experience:
• At least 9 - 12 years of experience in shipyard and preferably involved in offshore activities and/or rig building.
• Experienced in handling rig building and similar offshore related projects which are of high value and with technical complexities.
Responsibilities:
• Assist the construction day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and performance in accordance with project specification and budget.
• To supervise and lead a team of welding workers and supervisors in ensuring all welding activities are performed in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Assist in PQR and WQT for the project by communication with all related stakeholders.
• To ensure pre and post heating requirements are carried out based on material thickness, grade, and requirements.
• Carry out inspections as well as resolving and monitoring welding and rectification works.
• To ensure inventory of consumables is always maintained at required level.
• Study construction drawings and plan welding sequence in conjunction with KPI plan.
• Have weekly schedule coordination meetings with all subcontractor foremen to outline requirements of work completion, and other issues as may be required including but not limited to manpower requirements, interference coordination, inspections, and sequence of work. Distribute three-week look ahead schedules and communicate schedule requirements with all subcontractors.
• Maintain a high-level control around cost of all construction consumables and equipment utilised during the construction works.
• Implement, monitor, and drive the project schedule.
• Ensure that HSEQ regulations and rig building job certifications is communicated to the project team on a regular basis.
• Identify the work priorities, focus on the critical path, analyze the work problems in writing with own problem solving mentality, accurate supervision, decision-maker with a strong convincing personality, full readiness with 'Plan B' for any unexpected issues.
• Fully responsible for delivery of all Inspection Test Records (ITR’s) under the relevant discipline by effectively delegating to the foreman and chargehands.
