We’re seeking an Intermediate/Senior Tailings Engineer to join our client’s Calgary team. Our client is a major player in the environmental consulting industry with a strong presence all throughout Canada.

Responsibilities:

Provide technical leadership and support for projects and staff, including reviewing calculations and analyses, and conducting technical analyses as needed.
Oversee various tailings and water embankment dam projects, including:
Field investigation coordination
Laboratory test coordination and interpretation
Participate in fieldwork as needed to meet project goals and client expectations.

Assist with project coordination, cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, client and progress reports, project scheduling, and ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.

Scope projects and help prepare proposals.

Contribute to the management of a leading geotechnical tailings testing facility.

Participate in fieldwork as needed to meet project goals and client expectations.
Qualifications:

Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering.
At least 8 years of relevant post-degree experience in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering, preferably in a consulting or mining environment. Canadian experience is highly preferred.
Professional Engineer registration with APEGA and/or EGBC, or eligibility for registration.
Strong analytical skills in soil mechanics and tailings behavior, including slope stability, seepage, settlement, and deformation.
Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Class 5 Driver’s license.
Comfortable driving mid to full-sized pickup trucks in various environments.
