We’re seeking a dedicated Field Service Technician for our client. This opportunity is particularly well-suited for a mid-level Power Systems Electrician or Electrical Technologist who is confident and experienced in managing High Voltage power systems. This role offers opportunities for career development and leadership growth. Extensive safety training and equipment usage instruction will be provided.

Responsibilities: 
 
  • Carry out Doble testing on electrical equipment including transformers and circuit breakers.
  • Be part of the 24hr emergency response rotation, providing crucial support to field staff in emergencies.
  • Oversee electrical switching and clearance for isolation.
  • Take charge of field service involvement and project leadership.
  • Test and commission electrical apparatus and protection/control systems, from 480/600V industrial distributions to 240kV substations.
  • Perform tests on microprocessor protective relays such as Schweitzer and GE Multilin.
 
Qualifications & Requirements:
 
  • 1-3 years in a Power Systems Electrician or Electrical Engineering Technologist role.
  • Holds a Power Systems Electrician, Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma, or Electrical Engineering Degree from an accredited Canadian institution.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in hand and power tools, and good PC skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Energetic team player with a willingness to learn and develop new skills, adaptable to a fast-paced work environment.
  • Safety conscious with an interest in ongoing learning of safety precautions and procedures.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Availability for frequent short-duration travel, often with minimal notice, and adaptability for 24/7 emergency on-call rotation and weekend work.
  • Experience working in variable weather conditions and ability to meet customer site pre-access requirements.
  • Comprehensive on-the-job safety training, including First Aid, WHIMIS, H2S Alive, CSTS, Fall Arrest, Confined Space, Basic Electrical Safety, and Arc Flash Awareness.
