This role will focus on developing and implementing procedures from the ground up. They are responsible for leading and overseeing all HSE activities for camp, logistics, and drilling operations.
The successful candidates will ensure efficient and effective management of environmental compliance, health, and safety protocols, and embed a positive safety culture.
Location: BC remote area
Employment: Independent Contractor
Site details: Camp-based assignment, cross shift role, Food and accommodation provided, Travel expense reimbursement is provided
Fly-in/fly-out, working on a regular rotational schedule of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.
Responsibilities:
- Apply regulatory requirements, develop and manage H&S activities, and ensure compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations and the BC Mines Act.
- Embed a culture of continuous improvement, conduct regular safety performance reviews, and create emergency preparedness programs.
- Implement and manage incident investigation reporting, track and report leading and lagging indicators, and develop annual safety goals and budgets.
- Ensure compliance with permitting requirements, direct site environmental consultants, and oversee environmental monitoring and compliance.
- Oversee and coordinate responses to environmental accidents, perform environmental inspections, and report findings.
- Foster strong relationships with Indigenous Partners and local communities, upholding the company's commitment to social responsibility.
- University degree or post-secondary diploma in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in occupational and/or process safety.
- Expertise with provincial legislation, a strong working knowledge of industry best practices, and demonstrated experience with implementing health, safety, and security systems and practices.
- Thorough knowledge of all applicable Federal and Provincial legislation regarding Occupational Health and Safety plus any other relevant laws and regulations.
- Proven ability for problem-solving and achieving sustainable results.
- Proficient computer literacy, oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use data analytics to continuously improve safety performance.
- Outstanding influencing skills, proven ability to relate well to other people in a wide range of contexts and levels; as well as working collaboratively with Indigenous Partners.
- Proven ability to build positive relationships with key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated capacity to execute plans and hold self and others accountable for performance and deliverables.
